Distractions

The things of life
divert our sight
of what we need, that saving light

Our sights are set
Our minds made up
We've given up that bread and cup

Yet I, I try
I try and see
This truth that keeps evading me

Earthly things
So full of pleasure
But reality will destroy our leisure

I wish for more
Yet mourn it too
Is it this I want, or is it You?

These distractions of life
That which I love and hate
These distractions of life
Will they decide my fate?
These distractions of life
Will I give Him priority?
These distractions of life
Or will they simply destroy me?
Gah, I have a hard time organizing poetry into the right sections sometimes D|

Anyway, this is a much more personal poem in some way.
It's just something I struggle with I feel.

And if you didn't know (which judging by how many times I've said it in journals particularly, it would be surprising if you didn't), I am indeed a Christian. So I hope that all my family in Christ can read this and understand it well. It's a real struggle sometimes though...

I'm wondering the same thing myself.

Very well written, btw. <3
